Runs 131 minutes

This film tells the story of the Krays, the identical twin gangsters who ran the organized Crime empire in the East End of London in the 1960's. Ronald and Reggie (both played by Tom Hardy) were notorious and brutal. Ronald was the more adept businessman while Reggie was constantly fighting his own mental health demons. When Ronald meets Frances Shea (Emily Browning) he is smitten and promises to reign in his savage tendencies. They marry but he is soon back to his cruel and illegal ways. Frances finally confronts him and forces him to make a choice between her or his criminal empire, including his mentally unstable brother. Is blood really more important than love?

This is an interesting movie. It is told from the standpoint of Frances, who both loved and hated Ronald Kray. This puts a little different spin on the story. It is still violent and brutal. It is also a little difficult to understand. The East End accents are very thick. I could have used subtitles in some spots. But, I was able to understand most of it. Just be prepared to really focus or you might miss some of the lines. Other than that, Tom Hardy does a tremendous job playing both twins. I thought it might get a little distracting but the film was pretty seamless, even when they were both in the scene. I really liked it, but it won't be for everyone. The Husband and Trainer Joe both thought it was a little slow, but who cares what they think. Go see it amd judge for yourself.
