Runs 90 minutes

Felicie (Elle Fanning) and Victor (Dane DeHaan) are orphans with big dreams. Felicie longs to be a dancer and Victor wants to be an inventor. When Victor shows Felicie a picture of a ballet school in Paris, she decides the time is right and together they escape from the orphanage. Once in Paris, things become a little more complicated. Felicie wanders into the ballet school but is soon sent back onto the street. She meets Odette (Carly Rae Jepsen), the ballet school cleaner and the maid to a very rich and mean old woman. Luckily, Odette has a mysterious past and agrees to help Felicie. Meanwhile, Victor has started working for the man who is building the Eiffel Tower (if only as a menial laborer). Now, Felicie just has to get the courage to take that "leap" and prove she belongs after all.

I thought this was a sweet film. The animation is really good and the ballet dancing is amazing. It will probably appeal more to girls. But, it is the perfect film for a mommy/daughter afternoon. I'm not sure why the critics haven't really liked this film. It has a great story and a beautiful and talented underdog. I love that is takes place while the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty were first being constructed. Really cool. So, not a bad way to spend an afternoon. If you like animation, ballet and a cute story, then go see it.
