Jill's Review
Opens April 4, 2014 in Dallas
Runs 93 minutes
Nick (Jim Broadbent) and Meg (Lindsay Duncan) are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary with a weekend trip to Paris. When they arrive, the hotel is not to their liking so Meg finds a much nicer one. Of course, they can't really afford it but they decide to stay anyway. As they travel around the city, they quietly revisit their relationship and pick at each other's faults. They do have some laughs and even skip out on a dinner tab. They run into an old friend Morgan (Jeff Goldblum), an American living in Paris with a much younger wife. He invites them to a fancy dinner party where their true feelings really come out. They flee the party in embarrassment. As the weekend winds down, they are forced to face the future and come to a decision about thier relationship. And, they have to call Morgan one more time to help them out of a jam.
This movie is actually funnier thatn it sounds. Also, Nick and Meg have deep feelings for each other. There are just certain things that they have been withholding from one another that come out over the course of the weekend. It really feels like they have been married for 30 years and you begin to root for them to make it to 31. I liked the movie and I would recommend it to fans of movies like Before Sunrise and Before Sunset.
