Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) is a senior at her Catholic High School. All she wants is to get out of Sacramento. She hopes to attend college on the East Coast - some place like Yale, but not Yale since she probably can't get in Yale. But, in the meantime, she has to deal with her loving but brutally honest mother Marion (Laurie Metcalf), her depressed and unemployed father Larry (Tracy Letts), her over-crowded house and all of the other trials of being a teenager. If only growing up was just a little easier.

I loved this movie. It is a funny, touching and poignant look at a teenage girl's coming of age. This is Greta Gerwig's directorial debut and she does a fine job. Saoirse Ronan is excellent and so is Laurie Metcalf. Poor Lady Bird wants to leave the nest so badly. But, once she is gone, I think she realizes how much her family really means to her. This isn't a deep film but it is full of life, laughter and emotion. It feels very authentic. It made me laugh and even shed a few tears. One of my favorites of 2017. Go see it.

Note: The nudity in this film is from a quick glimpse of a vintage Playgirl magazine. So quick you might even miss it.
