Runs 101 minutes

A one-eyed boy named Kubo (Art Parkinson) lives with his Mother in a small village near the shore. He ventures out by day to earn money telling stories to the townsfolk, using his origami to depict the characters in his stories. He always gets home before dark because his Mother's evil twin sisters (Rooney Mara) are searching for him to steal his other eye. When a spirit from the past turns Kubo's life upside down, he must head on a quest to find a special suit of armor once worn by his Father, aided only by a Monkey (Charlize Theron) and a Beetle (Matthew McConaughey) to discover his true past.

This movie used stop-motion animation and it was gorgeous to look at. It is always amazing seeing something like this knowing how long it takes to film just a small scene. The voice actors were good. Matthew McConaughey added most of the humor. I thought the story was just a tad confusing and dark, especially for kids. I would not take the younger children. But, it is very well done. I found it to be a little slow. If you like stop-motion animation, then this is a must see. Otherwise, it is good but I was just a tad bored.
