Runs 124 minutes

Based on the crazy, true story of Joy Mangano, who against all odds goes on to invent the "Miracle Mop" and eventually turns that into an entire empire of home shopping products. Raised in a dysfunctional family, Joy was always a bright girl. She had lots of dreams but she was burdened with her entire family's problems. Her mother (Virginia Madsen) lived with her and barely left her bedroom. Her father (Robert DeNiro) ran a family automotive business and sometimes lived in her basement along with Tony (Edgar Ramirez) her ex-husband. Finally, she gets up the nerve to borrow money from her father's girlfirend and begins her journey. She is cheated, she is put down and she is undermined but she perseveres and eventually gets a spot on QVC with the help of Neil Walker (Bradley Cooper). The rest is history.

This is a good movie and Jennifer Lawrence is great, as usual. The movie overall isn't up to par with David O. Russell's last few films, but it is still interesting and better than it should be due to the stellar cast. I liked the story and the movie had drama and humor. If you are a Jennifer Lawrence or Robert DeNiro fan, you will definitely like this movie. I would give it a chance and go see it.
