John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is back and we find him right where we left him at the end of Chapter 1, collecting his car back from the Russians. Once he gets his car, he and his new dog head home. Of course, if he was left alone and allowed to go back into retirement there wouldn't be a movie. An old acquaintance comes to visit. It seems that Santino D'Antonio (Ricardo Scamarcio) helped John Wick retire the first time and now he is calling in his marker. He wants to be the new head of the assassins and he needs John Wick to take out the person in his way - his sister Gianna (Claudia Gerini). In the circle of assassins, that is an offer you can't refuse. John Wick tries to say no so they blow up his house. He heads to the Continental to get back in the game. Unfortunately, the plan is a little darker than he thought. After he has personally killled over a hundred people with a gun, his hands or his trusty Number 2 pencil, it seems that the tables are turned on him. Ultimately, John Wick is banned from the Continental by Winston (Ian McShane) and forced on the run with his dog with no name by his side. Hello Chapter 3.

I enjoyed this film. It was not as good as the first one. In Chapter 1, you are drawn into the story when John's dog is killed and you can really feel his pain over that and the death of his wife. In this one, you still feel for him but the body count is so astronomical, it gets a little repetitive. The fight scenes are still amazing and I have heard that Keanu did all of his own fighting (not all of the other stunts, but the fighting). He definitely has an animal magnetism about him and this character fits him like a glove - stoic, tough with little dialogue. Spoiler alert - the dog lives. I was relieved when the movie was over and he was still alive (still doesn't have a name but I'm sure that will come in Chapter 3). So, the husband and I liked this film. Just not as much as the first one. If you are a fan, then go see it so you will be ready for Chapter 3!
