Keanu Reeves is John Wick, a retired hitman. Five years ago he struck a deal with his employer, the head honcho Russian gangster Viggo (Michael Nyqvist) that upon completion of an impossible task, he would be free to give up the assassin life, marry the girl of his dreams and live out his life in the suburbs. For five years, that is exactly what he did until his wife died from a mysterious illness. While still in mourning, he receives a puppy from his dead wife. On the card she tells him that he still needs something to love and puppy Daisy will fill that void.  Although still grieving, John spends his days pushing his beloved car to its limits and playing with his puppy. That is until Viggo's son Iosef (Alfie Allen), not knowing who John Wick is, decides to steal the car. He and his thug friends steal the car and on top of that they kill John's dog. Not a good idea. That lures John back into the game to get his revenge. And for the rest of the movie, he does just that.

I actually liked this movie. Trainer Joe (who is getting the big head and wants to go by his new handle TRNRJOE..but that is another story) thought it was pretty good but a little loud (the IMAX version looks great but is loud). The husband was disappointed. I guess he wanted a more realistic assassin gets revenge kind of movie...ha! I thought it was clever and a little tongue-in-cheek. Keanu was perfect for the role of John Wick. The part didn't require much emotion but plenty of wiry athleticism. He fit the bill nicely. There is a lot of killing. Probably hundreds of dead bodies! Lots of ingenious ways to kill people in tight spaces. But the movie never takes itself seriously, so just go along for the ride. And, just steel your heart at the beginning because the puppy bites the dust. Then John Wick gets his revenge! A good Saturday afternoon diversion.
