Iris Apfel is a 93 year old legendary style maven and quite a character. She has one of the largest and most unique costume jewelry collections in the world and an unbelievable collection of designer clothes. Her collections have been displayed in the windows of Bergdorf-Goodman and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In fact, she is slowly donating her most fabulous pieces to the museum so that they can live on and inspire others after she has passed. She and her husband Carl, who turned 100 years old during the filming, still live in their Park Ave. apartment amidst a lot of her amazing clothes and jewelry. She has converted whole bedrooms to contain all of her finds. She was raised during the Depression and worked hard her whole life. She was an interior designer and eventually she and Carl started their own fabric company because she couldn't find what she needed elsewhere. The rest is history. She still teaches a Master Class in conjunction with NYU and hopes to pass along a passion for fabric and design that is slowly dying today. She is an amazing, dynamic and still extremely entertaining women.

If you have any interest in design or clothes or jewelry, you should see this movie. Iris is so fascinating and she and Carl are so cute together. They have been together for a long time. In fact, she broke her hip and had the housekeeper distract Carl while she was hauled off in an ambulance so he wouldn't know and worry about her. Typical of Iris! I really enjoyed this movie. It was fun seeing her walk the streets of NYC and help design the exhibits for Bergdorf's and the museum. She believes the more you put on the better that's for sure. Go see it!!
