Runs 103 minutes

In this fourth installment in the Insidious series, we find Dr. Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) called in to help with a haunting - this time in her old family home. We learn more about Elise's early years. It appears that she had the calling from a very early age. She grew up near the prison where her father worked and the power even flickered when old sparky was fired up at the prison. Elise's dad (Josh Stewart) did not appreciate her talents and punished her whenever she appeared to communicate with other-worldly beings. Her mother (Tessa Ferrer) was more sympathetic. When Elise is called in, she must enter that "in-between" place to try to rid the old homestead of a dangerous demon, one that Elise may have released herself as a child.

I loved the first Insidious movie. I thought it was creative and creepy, with a top-notch cast. By number four, I think the series has worn itself out. The film starts off fresh, with a nice backstory and some neat scares. Then, it just gets lazy. It is not scary or inventive in any way. Toward the end when Ellise tells a character to "get back in your body", it is laughable. Sorry, I didn't think this move was very good. There were plenty of people at the screening I saw, which shows that people are ready for a good scary movie. This wasn't it. Skip it!
