Runs 97 minutes

Quinn's (Stefanie Scott) mother has passed away and she has tried to contact her in the spirit world to no avail. She goes to Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) for help. Elise attempts to help her but encounters an evil spirit that threatens her, so she turns the girl away. However, some kind of demon has been released and is haunting Quinn. Quinn's dad (Dermot Mulroney) returns to Elise and begs for her help to stop this demon from completely possessing his daughter. Elise must face her biggest fear in order to help Quinn and maybe finally say goodbye to her dead husband, as well.

This is supposed to be the prequel to the haunting of the Lambert family. It does introduce Elise and how she hooks up with the ghostbuster duo that helps her record events as they happen and adds comic relief. I thought this movie was very average. Everyone does a decent job. It just wasn't very scary. So, if you are a diehard Insidious fan, you might want to go see this. Otherwise, you could probably wait for the DVD.
