Jill's Review

Opens September 5, 2014

Runs 96 minutes

After the tragic death of her mother, Beckett (Sophie Curtis) and her famous author father Miles Warner (Linus Roache) move to Manhattan to begin a new life. Beckett is enrolled at the elite Hamilton Preparatory School. On one of her first days, she witnesses the suicide of one of the girls in her class. She ends up in nurse Pamela's office (Kelly Reilly - one of the sexiest school nurses ever. Good thing this is an all girls school or every boy would fake an illness every day...).  Pamela begins to take an interest in Beckett and her father. At first, it seems natural but gradually becomes creepy. What goes on at those strange book club meetings at the school? Why have there been multiple suicides? Why is the school psychiatrist (Sarita Choudhury) constantly pushing drugs on the students? Why is the school's garden closed for repairs?? Will Beckett discover what is going on behind the scenes at Hamilton before it is too late?

This is a pretty lame attempt at a horror movie with a great cast that is wasted on cheesy dialogue and vague scary situations. I did want to see how it all turned out, so at least it somewhat kept my interest. Other than that, I would say that you could skip this and not miss anything. Maybe you could rent it one night from the bargain bin at RedBox....
