Runs 103 minutes

Vivian (Dolly Wells) is a documentary filmmaker and she has a premise: marriage should be a contract for 7 years and then both parties should have the option to renew - and according to her, they should opt out. She has arrived in Vero Beach to test out her theory for a new film. She signs up Harvey (Paul Reiser) and Cybil (Mary Steenburgen) right away because they have been married forever and their marriage seems to be teetering toward destruction. Alice (Lake Bell) and Noah (Ed Helms) seem really happy but they are coming up on 7 years and they have been having trouble getting pregnant and their business is floundering. Then there is Alice's sister Fanny (Amber Heard) and her partner Xander (Wyatt Cenac). They have an open relationship, a perfect reflection that marriage doesn't matter. Vivian viciously plays people against each other and films their most private moments. Eventually, they turn the tables on her. Maybe marriage really does matter after all.

This was a cute movie. At times it seemed very low budget. But, then a scene just really hits you as funny or touching. The premise is funny and everyone does a nice job. Ed Helms was really good - funny but not manic. And, Mary Steenburgen has a nice meaty role. Overall, this is a pleasant way to spend 103 minutes. It won't stay with you more that 24 hours but it is fun while you are watching. Worth a matinee, at least.
