In 2008, the city of Mumbai was under seige by a band of terrorists. One of their primary targets was the famous Taj Hotel. As the terrorists try to take over the hotel, the employees and guests must band together to try to survive until help arrives. This is the true story of hotel employees, including the famous head chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and one of his waiters Arjun (Dev Patel), among others, who sacrifice their own safety to protect the hotel guests.

This is a great movie. Even though I remember when this happened, I didn't know this particular story. The whole film is packed with tension. These terrorists are brutal and you can feel the fear of all of the people in this film. But, you can also see their humanity. Most of the hotel staff stayed at the hotel to help the guests rather than escape out of the back when they had the chance. Armie Hammer, Nanzanin Boniadi and Jason Isaacs were all great as hotel guests just trying to survive. But the film goes to all of the wonderful staff who did everything they could to save as many people as possible. Lots of folks died that day but it would have been more without them. This film is gut-wrenching and powerful and it makes you believe in the goodness of people. Go see it!
