This movie stars Joquin Phoenix as Theodore Twombly, a sad and lonely man who writes personal and heartfelt letters for other people. He has ended his marriage and become very withdrawn. He purchases a state of the art Operating System (Scarlett Johansson) as a "companion" and eventually opens himself up to a relationship. He begins to enjoy life and see the possibilty of being happy again. Some of his friends seem to accept the fact that he is dating a software program. His friend Amy (Amy Adams) has also befriended an OS, so they can both relate to the uiqueness of these relationships. However, the OS is an intuitive design that adapts to the user and grows with him or her. Eventually, the OS begins to outgrow the users which alters their relationships. The technology in the movie is fascinating, especially the video games. But, it is sad to think that someone could substitute an OS for a real live person.
The acting is first rate and this is definitely an original concept. Worth seeing!
