Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin) is the fixer for Capital Pictures in the 1950's. He is overseeing their swords and sandals epic "Hail, Caesar!" starring Baird Whitlock (George Clooney), along with several other pictures starring DeeAnna Moran (Scarlett Johansson), Hobie Doyle (Alden Ehrenreich) and Burt Gurney (Channing Tatum). He is currently dealing with DeeAnna's pregnancy (she's not married!) and Hobie's unfortunate acting skills when Baird Whitlock disappears and turns up kidnapped. As he tries to recover Baird so that they can finish their big budget picture, Eddie must also face a tough decision regarding his future. Will Baird be recovered in time to complete his movie? Will Eddie throw in the towel or stay to see all of his projects through to completion?

This is the Coen Brother's new film. I thought it was funny and did a good job of conveying the period of 1950's Hollywood. Channing Tatum was fantastic. He sang and tap-danced. I loved him!! I also thought Josh Brolin did a good job. He was funny in a very understated way. This was Hollywood when stars sang and danced and belonged to the studios. I thought the whole Communist subplot was a little slow and kind of broke up the momentum of the film. Other than that, I liked the film and I thought everyone in it was super talented. The Husband fell asleep and thought it was just too slow, although he did think that Channing did a great job. If you love the Coen Brothers, then you should like this film. It is definitely different. I liked it! Go see it!
