The Guardians - Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Baby Groot (voiced by a high-pitched Vin Diesel) are now heroes and their skills are in demand. They are hired by the Sovereigns, a golden-hued super race of aliens led by Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) to guard their stash of super batteries. The Guardians fend off a monster attack and head on their way. The only problem is that Rocket steals some of their batteries. Soon, the whole universe is after them. Their ship crash lands and as they are working to fix it, Ego the Planet (Kurt Russell) shows up. It appears that Ego is Peter's long-lost Father. Peter has dreamed of this day and soon he, Gamora and Drax are headed with Ego to his planet to learn about Peter's past. On Ego's planet, they meet Mantis (Pom Klementieff) a strange alien who can read and even alter people's moods. She helps Ego sleep. Peter is in awe of Ego but Gamora has doubts about his intentions. They soon learn that Ego is a Celestial being, making Peter half Celestial. Ego needs Peter's help to take over the Universe. Not happening. Peter and his Guardian family must prevent Ego from completing his evil intentions and keep their new-found family intact from assaults by the Ravagers and even from Gamora's crazy sister Nebula (Karen Gillan).

I loved this movie. It is action-packed and even a little touching at the end. And, it is very funny. All of the characters are a hoot. Baby Groot (a twig from the original Groot in the first film) is hilarious. Michael Rooker (the Blue Guy) gives a standout performance. The overall messages of love, friendship and family all come through loud and clear in this great installment in the Marvel Universe. Stay through the credits for a couple of additional scenes. Sylvester Stallone has a nice cameo. Something tells me he will be back for Vol. 3! The music is front and center just like in Vol.1. Can't wait to buy the soundtrack. Overall, I really liked this film. Vol. 1 might have been a touch better, but only because it was so original. Still, it is nice to have all of the characters back. Can't wait to see how these guys fit in with the Avengers movie universe and I can't wait for Vol. 3. Go see it!
