She is not particularly fond of being the "inspiration" for these books. Nick and Amy marry and settle into their life In NYC. Eventually, life catches up to them and they are both left jobless due to the recession. Before they can make other plans, Nick's mother is diagnosed with terminal cancer and they have picked up and moved to Nick's hometown in Missouri. Amy is a little resentful, after all, it is her money that is supporting them right now. But, she puts on a good act and tries to make the best of it. Soon Nick is running the town bar with his twin sister Margo (Carrie Coon). Things seem ok but resentment is slowly building below the surface of their relationship. Then, on their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick arrives home to find the front door open, the living room a mess and Amy missing. Nick comes under immediate scrutiny. Did he have anything to do with his wife's disappearance? As the investigation proceeds, all may not be what it seems.

I loved this movie! I read the novel on which the movie is based and the movie more than met my expectations. You might even like it better if you have no idea what is coming. Both Trainer Joe and the Husband liked it, too. They were a little worried that Ben would be over-exposed (rumor of full frontal nudity was not exactly true) so they were relieved about that. Ha! Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike are both excellent as Nick and Amy. This is s nice, twisty thriller. The film is well-paced and moves quickly even though it is pretty long. If you love a good mystery and great acting, this is for you!! Go see it!
