Steve Gleason played for the New Orleans Saints. He became famous for a blocked punt in the first game played at the Super Dome after Hurricane Katrina. He married his wife Michel Varisco and retired after nine years of football. Then the floor dropped out underneath him as he was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) just six weeks before his wife became pregnant. He was only 34 years old. The film follows Steve as he films video diaries for his son, starts a Foundation and tries to live a meaningful life.

This was an excellent documentary. It was emotional and heartfelt. But, it was also very personal and difficult to watch. I watched almost the whole film with tears in my eyes. It was so trtagic to see a top athlete brought slowly to his knees by succumbing to this awful disease. You see the toll on his family and up close the toll it takes on Steve himself. But, it is also uplifting. Steve chooses to live his life, to try to leave a legacy for his son and to try to make a difference in the world. If you like documentaries, then this a MUST see! I loved it.
