Ricki (Elizabeth Alderfer) has just lost everything. The start-up company that she founded has gone belly-up. She takes a job at a consulting firm but has a hard time fitting in. She is just not a people person. But, she soon learns that if she wants to move up the ladder, she needs to join the boys club and play on the company basketball team. The only problem is - she can't play, at all. She recruits a young kid, Lucas (Romeo Miller) from the public courts outside her apartment to give her some lessons. She develops some skills, joins the company team and learns a few life lessons a long the way.
This is actually a cute film. It feels a little like a Hallmark movie, but it kept my interest and I felt invested in the characters. The acting is a little stilted but it isn't that bad. I didn't recognize anyone in the film but Romeo Miller (formerly Li'l Romeo). However, I liked most of the main characters. The film was cute, funny, sweet and predictable, with an emotional turn at the end. It might bring a few tears to your eyes. Not a bad date night movie but you might just wait and catch it on late night cable.
