It is 1945 and World War II is winding down. The Allies are attempting one more big push in the European theater and Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) is sent on a mission behind enemy lines. Wardaddy is the Tank commander for a motley crew of soldiers including "Bible" (Shia LaBeouf), "Gordo" (Michael Pena), "Coon-Ass" (Jon Bernthal) and rookie Norman (Logan Lerman). They are surrounded and pinned down in their valiant attempt to stop a Nazi brigade from advancing. They face over-whelming odds with heart and gusto and show what it takes to be a true hero.
I liked this movie. I thought it really depicted what the conditions would be like inside a Sherman Tank for an extended period of time. I felt very claustrophobic just watching the movie. Rumor has it that Shia LaBeouf didn't shower during filming to add to the authenticity of his character much to his fellow actor's disapproval. I can only imagine... Anyway, this was a candid look at the war from a different perspective, from inside a tank. If you like gritty movies with real human characters, then this might be for you. Worth a look.
