Runs 95 minutes

Drew (Kelly Blatz) is in High School and runs on the school track team. He lives with his single mother (Kim Basinger) and his drug courier brother (Cam Gigandet). He feels trapped in his life of poverty and delivering drugs and money at the whim of his brother. One day in anger, he quits the school track team. However, the old coach (Richard Jenkins) sees him runnng and knows that he has the ability to earn a college scholarship. He offers to train him if he will do exactly what he is told. Drew resists at first but eventually develops a respect fior the old coach. Will he be able to break away from his life of poverty and crime and earn a college scholarship? He just needs to run a four minute mile to make it happen...

This is a good sports movie. It is fairly predictable but the actor playing Drew is a very convincing runner. He runs and runs and runs. I like movies where characters must overcome the odds and that is exactly what this is. It has a great cast and it is fairly family friendly even though the subject matter can get a little dark. Definitely worth checking out, even if you just wait for the DVD.
