Ferdinand (John Cena) was raised at Casa Del Toro to be a fighter. But, at heart he is just a sweet and lovable bull that has no interest in fighting. When his father is taken away to fight and does not return, Ferdinand escapes and ends up being raised by Nina (Lily Day) on a loving farm with lots of freedom and flowers. But, one day he is mistaken for a dangerous beast and taken back to his original owner. There, with the help of a crazy comfort goat named Lupe (Kate McKinnon), some hedge hogs that do the Macarena and the rest of the bulls, he rallies the animals for the adventure of a lifetime. Ferdinand wants nothing more than to return to his true home.

I really liked this movie. I have to say that I am partial to any movie with animals so this one really hit me. I had tears in my eyes a few times because these animals were sometimes in peril. The theme around bullfighting involves conquering the bull (and killing it) so this was a little scary. I think this will go over the heads of most little kids but it really affected me. **SPOLIER ALERT** Ferdinand does not get taken down by the matador. Thank goodness. All of the voice work was great, especially John Cena and Kate McKinnon. They were so cute and funny. One of the bulls was even voiced by Peyton Manning! Ha! The themes of love, friendship and being able to follow your own dreams were all positive. I think this movie is great for the whole family. Funny and touching. The animation is cute and colorful (this is not a Pixar film so just enjoy it for the cute story and sweet animals). Go see it!
