In a spin-off of the Harry Potter films, we find Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) traveling to New York City to research a book that Harry will read 70 years later. Newt is fascinated by fantastic beasts, those that can change size, have special skills or just crazy personalities, of which he has quite a collection. When he lands in New York, he becomes embroiled in the secret wizarding community and the fight between the wizards and the No-Majs (the humans with no magical skills - or muggles as Harry Potter would call them). It seems that something is tearing through the city, destroying everything in its wake and the humans are on edge. Newt knows that it is not a fantastic beast but can he prove it before all of the wizards are driven underground for good?

This is actually a very good stand-alone movie. It immediately draws you into a whole new universe. The city of New York is amazing and the fantastic beasts are awesome. Some of them are cute and some are big and scary, but all are unique. All of the characters are entertaining and there is plenty of humor. Fine for most ages, except really young kids. Enchanting, entertaining and engrossing. Go see it.
