In a movie directed by John Turturro, he also plays a mild-mannered New York florist named Fioravante.  He and his best friend Murray (Woody Allen) are discussing the state of their lives and Murray makes an offhand proposal: How would Fioravante like to provide a little companionship for lonely women and earn a few extra bucks? Before you know it, he is providing more than friendship to a lonely dermatologist (Sharon Stone) and her friend (Sofia Vergara). Meanwhile Murray, assuming the pimp name, Dan Bongo, is trying to drum up new clients. Fioravante is unexpectedly drawn to a young Hasidic widow Avigal (Vanessa Paradis) who has never been outside of her community before. A lovesick Hasidic cop (Liev Schrieber) jealously watches as she ventures out and becomes a more confident woman. Eventually, reality prevails in a humorous and touching way.

This movie is different in a nice and unexpected way. It is very funny and touching.  There is a great supporting cast and it feels intimate without being exploitative. I don't love Woody Allen but he was well cast and very funny in his role as "the Pimp". I really liked this film and it is definitely worth seeing.
