Jill's Review

Runs 130 minutes

Michele LeBlanc (Isabelle Huppert) is a successful business owner and independent woman. When she is savagely raped, she does not report it to authorities for her own dark reasons. Soon, she is involved in a strange game of cat and mouse as she tries to track down her rapist and seek her own revenge.

This movie is great and very disturbing. It is about a woman's unusual reaction to her own rape. Did she actually enjoy it? Yes - the movie is a little unsettling. It may not sit well with all viewers but if you can stomach the violent assault, then the rest is pretty fascinating. Isabelle Huppert is fantastic! She gives a very brave performance. It keeps you guessing and there is plenty of intrigue. It is definitely French in its sensibilities. We were slightly appalled but we couldn't look away. Good but not for the faint of heart.
