This is the true story of Eddie "the Eagle" Edwards (Taron Egerton), the underdog ski-jumper who makes the British Olympic team for the 1988 Calgary Olympics. Ever since Eddie was a little kid he wanted to be an Olympian. But he grew up with bad knees, leg braces and coke bottle glasses. Even though he was never considered an athlete, he still did quite well in downhill skiing. But, not good enough. When he didn't make the Olytmpic team, he discovered that Britian did not have a ski-jumping team. He was determined to be the first British Olympic ski-jumper since the 1920's. He tries to train himself but soon meets Bronson Peary (Hugh Jackman) a heavy drinking washed-up former U.S Olympic ski-jumper. Together, they use unorthodox training and unorthodox form to turn Eddie into the Olympian he always wanted to be. He heads to the 1988 Olympics and ends up winning the hearts of everyone who sees him ski.

I loved this movie! Eddie is such an endearing underdog. He is sweetly encouraged by his mother Janette (Jo Hartley) and his exasperated Father Terry (Keth Allen) just wants him to find a more productive career. But, both his parents are so proud of him. Hugh Jackman provides the humor as the drunken coach with all of the witty lines. But, even he is won over by Eddie's perpetual optimism. This is a feel-good movie perfect for the whole family. Go see it!!
