Sonny Weaver Jr. (Kevin Costner) is the GM of the Cleveland Browns. It is Draft Day and the team's owner, Frank Langella, tells Sonny that unless he makes a splash in the draft, his days as GM may be numbered. Sonny immediately trades for the number one draft pick and it is assumed that he will select Bo Callahan, the highly touted QB from Wisconsin. But, what about the down on his luck defensive lineman with a chip on his shoulder (Chadwick Boseman) or the legacy running back (Arian Foster) who dreams of following in his father's footsteps as a Brown? And, he is somewhat distracted because just that morning he found out he was going to be a father with his semi-secret office romantic interest Ali (Jennifer Garner). All of this collides as the clock counts down to the Browns draft pick.
I loved this movie. Kevin Costner was perfect as Sonny and I thought he and Jennifer Garner had cute chemistry, even though most of it was in the supply closet (ha! you'll have to see the movie...). There is a great build up to the actual draft. And, Denis Leary is funny as Coach of the Browns with a Dallas Cowboy complex.
