Runs 135 minutes

Paul (Matt Damon) and Audrey (Kristen Wiig) Safranek are disappointed with their current lives. They agree to have a procedure which will shrink them down to four inches tall. They learn that at that size, their money will be like a king's ransom and they will be helping to save the planet from over-crowding at the same time. However, once Paul wakes up, he realizes that Audrey didn't follow through with the procedure. Now, he must negotiate his new life alone and with very little money as Audrey takes it all in the divorce. Will downsizing be all that it was purported to be?

The Husband and I thought this movie looked really funny. From the sight gags in the preview, we thought it would be an interesting premise and a neat way to look at the world. It was funny and entertaining for about 15 minutes. Then, it got bleak and dark. It seems that once you are four inches tall, your problems don't just go away. You still have the same problems and the world is still not always a nice place. Maybe if we had been more prepared for the fact that this wasn't really a comedy, we might have liked it more. As it was, we didn't really enjoy it. I will say that the character played by Hong Chau was great. She was a revelation and I would like to see her in a better film. Otherwise, it was a sad, depressing and melancholy film. See it at your own risk. Not my favorite.
