Dom Hemingway (Jude Law) is a safe-cracking wise guy just released from prison. He teams up with his old criminal buddy, Dickie (Richard E. Grant) to collect his due for not ratting out the big boss, Mr. Fontaine (Demián Bichir) while he was locked up. They head to Mr. Fontaine's big house in the country and Dom tries to convince him to pay him for his silence. There are a few complications involving a shooting incident and Mr. Fontaine's wife and Dom is forced to leave without his money. While he is working on Plan B, he tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Emilia Clarke, who really doesn't want anything to do with him.
This is a loud and tawdry comedy. Jude Law, in his best, all-out performance to date, is fabulous in this role. If the first 3 minutes of this movie don't make you squeamish, then you'll probably like this movie. It is a crime comedy along the likes of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or Snatch. It is sometimes hard to understand the cockney accents, but it is worth the effort.
