Runs 115 minutes

Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is a great, but cocky, neurosurgeon. One night on the way to a Charity event, he is injured in a car accident. His hands are brutally smashed. He spends the next several years, and all of his money, searching for any option to repair his hands back to their former state. His on/off girlfriend Christine (Rachel McAdams) can no longer watch him torture himself in this way. Then he meets a man who was brought back from the brink of death and paralysis. What Jonathan (Benjamin Bratt) tells him leads him on a journey to the other side of the world where he meets The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) who agrees to tutor him. There he learns the mystical arts and how to harness this power. Soon, he and Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) must use these powers, in different times and alternate dimensions, to protect the universe from the evil Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen). In the ultimate showdown, can Doctor Strange save the world?

Ok. I really enjoyed the background story. The cocky surgeon who damages his hands in a car accident and searches the world for a way to heal. I probably wanted to watch that movie more than the actual one. I thought Benedict Cumberbatch and Rachel McAdams were great together. Of course, Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor were great, too. One weird comment - Tilda's character was bald. Her skin was smooth and milky but her teeth were very British, kind of dingy. I don't know why that bothered me so much but it did. Anyway, the movie is good. Entertaining and fast-paced. I guess I am just a little burned out on superheroes. All of the mysticism and jumping through portals wore me down just a little. This movie will probably be a hit. It has humor and good characters. I guess I was just a little too tired to appreciate it. If you loved the other Marvel movies, then you will like this one. And, stay for the credits. The extra scene was my favorite part of the whole movie!
