Divergent is an exciting action-adventure film set in a future world where people are divided into factions based on their virtues.  Factions include Erudie, for the ultra smart and literate, Abnegation, the selfless, Amity, the kind farmers, Candor, the debaters and Dauntless, the risk-taking and fearless faction.  It is Beatrice "Tris" Prior's (Shailene Woodley) sixteenth Birthday and time for her to be tested and to choose her life-long faction.  It turns out that Tris doesn't fit neatly into any one faction, she is divergent.  She is warned by her tester Tori (Maggie Q) that being divergent is extremely dangerous and threatening and that she must keep this a secret at all costs.  Going against her family faction of Abnegation, she chooses Dauntless.  We follow Tris' struggle to prove that she is worthy of Dauntless, even as she is undermined by others in the faction.  Eventually, she bonds with her faction leader Four (Theo James) and together they must lead Dauntless to thwart a conspiracy to destoy all Divergents.

This is Part One of a Trilogy based on the novels by Veronica Roth.  It is exciting and different.  It may not be quite as good as the Hunger Games, but it does hold it's own.  And the cast is steller.  I am looking forward to the next installment.  Definitely worth seeing.
