Dean's (Demetri Martin) mother has passed away recently and he is feeling adrfit. He is an illustrator and a lot of his work has taken on a darker tone and he can't seem to break out of his funk. When his dad (Kevin Kline) decides to sell the family home, Dean gets upset and decides to take a trip to LA to try to break his cycle of grief. While in LA, he meets a nice girl named Nicky (Gillian Jacobs) and they hit it off. He finally begins to feel more like himself. But, things with Nicky take an unusual turn and he finds himself back in New York. However, the trip seems to have woken him up and he is able to face the future again.

This is a small, independent film. It is very funny and touching. The Husband and I laughed out loud quite a bit. Demeti wrote, directed and starred in this film. He was great. And, the drawings play a pivotal role in the film. Some of them are just hilarious. Pay attention because some of them fly by pretty quickly. Kevin Kline was great in a fairly small role and it was nice to see Mary Steenburgen pop up in a small role. Overall, an unexpected delight of a film. It isn't a huge blockbuster but it is thoroughly enjoyable. Go see it.
