Runs 120 minutes

Rachel (Constance Wu) is an Economics professor in New York dating Nick Young (Henry Golding), a good-looking and hard-working young man. When Nick's best friend gets married in his hometown in Singapore, he convinces Rachel that it is time to travel to the wedding with him and meet the family. Little does Rachel know that Nick comes from very old money and is soon expected to move back home to run the family business. Additionally, he is considered to be one of the most eligible bachelors in town, with women literally dropping at his feet. Not only does Rachel have to contend with these jealous and catty women, she must also face Nick's Mom Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh) who doesn't think that Rachel is the girl for Nick. Will Rachel survive meeting the family or will it be just too much for her to handle?

Based on the best-selling novel, this movie is a genuine crowd pleaser. It is gorgeous to look at - both the scenery and the actors. (It is also the first major movie with an all-Asian cast since 1993's Joy Luck Club. Just fabulous casting!) Constance Wu is great as Rachel. She is so cute and genuine. Henry Golding is perfect as Nick. It is hard to believe that this was his first real acting role. He is a natural and so good-looking. I loved Awkwafina as Rachel's college roommate. She provided plenty of comic relief. And, finally Michelle Yeoh as Nick's Mom was fantastic. She plays the steely Mom to perfection. The story has plenty of comedy and romance. with some greed and back-stabbing thrown in for good measure. I really felt the chemistry between Rachel and Nick and was pulling for them throughout the film. The Husband and I loved this movie. It is perfect for a date night or just watching with friends. Go see it!!
