The Gardners have moved to the country to escape the hubbub of city life. They are just getting settled when a meteorite crashes into their front yard. They aren't sure what to make of this unusual phenomenon. But, soon there is a strange color permeating their property. And, that isn't all that is happening. Things begin to change and creatures start to mutate, including the Gardners themselves.
Ok. Science Fiction horror starring Nicolas Cage. Need I say more? This is a weird movie. It starts off pretty good. Joely Richardson is the wife. She is recovering from a bout of cancer. The kids are cute but a little odd and not super happy to be living in the country. The meteorite hits and things get a little weirder. Until, the movie goes off of the rails. Nicolas Cage gets to do his wild man thing. But, the horror part gets just a bit too gruesome. There is no fun in this movie, at all. And, this type of horror needs to be more tongue in cheek. To top it off, there is a small part played by Tommy Chong. Fitting. Ha. I say skip this one, for sure.
