Jill's Review

Opens December 16, 2016

Runs 97 minutes

Howard (Will Smith) has it all - a great company, a beautiful wife and daughter and loyal friends. Then his daughter dies from cancer and he retreats from life. He searches for meaning from the Universe, even writing letters to Love, Time and Death. When he unexpectedly receives answers to his letters, he begins to open back up and face his life again.

This is a good movie. It is interesting and unique. I wasn't sure how they were going to handle the universe responding to Howard, but they pulled it off and it made sense. However, it did seem a little predictable. I thought Will Smith, Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, Michael Pena and Naomie Harris all did fine jobs. The cast overall was very good. I guess since I felt like I knew where the movie was headed, there wasn't quite the emotional payoff that there could have been. However, it is still touching and rewarding. Worth seeing so go see it.
