Before the movie is a Frozen sequel short. It is terrific with a brand new song! Worth going to the movie just to see this!

The movie is the live action remake of the original Cinderella story. Ella (Lily James) grows up in a happy home with a Father (Ben Chaplin ) and Mother (Hayley Atwell) who love and cherish her. Her Mother passes away and eventually her Father remarries. Her stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and stepsisters (Sophie McShera and Holliday Grainger) arrive and Ella must continually remind herself what her Mother taught her - be kind and have courage. When her Father passes away on a business trip abroad, Ella is left at the mercy of her vile stepmother. Ella is soon made to sleep in the attic and wait on her stepmother and stepsisters as if she is the servant. In fact, she spends so much time cooking and cleaning that she is soon nicknamed "Cinderella". One day she is riding in the woods and she meets the handsome Kit (Richard Madden) an apprentice or something at the castle. When the King (Derek Jacobi) announces that there will be a Ball and all of the eligible maidens are invited, Ella is anxious to attend to see if Kit is there but Ella's stepmother refuses to let her go. She wants to arrange a marriage between one of her daughters and the eligible Prince and doesn't want Cinderella to get in the way. Cinderella's Fairy Godmother (Helena Bohnam Catrter) appears and before you know it, she has a carriage made out of a pumpkin, mice become horses, lizards become footman, a goose is manning the reigns and she is decked out in a fabulous gown. She mysteriously attends the ball and the Prince becomes smitten but at the stroke of midnight she must flee, leaving behind a glass slipper. Will the Prince find the beautiful girl that the slipper fits and live happily ever after?

This is a beautiful film. I saw it in Imax and it was worth the extra cost. Cinderella was gorgeous. The farmhouse where she grew up was very unique and all of her animal friends were adorable. The Prince wasn't so bad, either. Cate Blanchett is fabulous as the evil Stepmother. She can make you cringe with just a sneer. Trainer Joe was not so excited to see this film. I don't think it is really a great fit for sIngle men, but it is a great date film or one for the whole family. If you like a good fairy tale, this is the one for you!
