Jill's Review

Opens April 6, 2018

Runs 102 minutes

Julie (Kathryn Newton), Sam (Gideon Adlon), and Kayla (Geraldine Viswanathan) have been best friends forever. So, it is no wonder that they decide to make a pact to all lose their virginity on Prom Night. Kathryn's mom Lisa (Leslie Mann) accidentally reads the girl's text messages and goes into a panic. Along with Kayla's dad Mitchell (John Cena) and Sam's dad Hunter (Ike Barinholtz), the parents set out to discover what the kids are up to on Prom Night. And, once they figure out what #SexPact2018 is they are determined to stop the girls at all costs. Hiarity ensues.

I thought this film was pretty average. The parents were pretty funny but when the action switched to the kids, it just made me cringe. These were pretty good girls - what were they doing with Connor (Mies Robbins) the Chef of the High School who bakes all kinds of drugs into dessert products? I just don't see them doing the stupid things that they did. Anyway, I thought it was just too crude and that really isn't funny to me anymore. I will say that Geraldine Viswanathan was pretty good. She is funny. And, John Cena killed it. That guy will do anything for a laugh and with such an innocent look on his face. But, overall, the movie didn't really work for me. If you don't mind the lowest of the low kind of humor, then you might go catch a matinee. Otherwise, skip it.
