Jill's Review

Opens August 14, 2015

Runs 87 minutes

In 1968 the ABC Television Network was struggling in the ratings. In order to try to lure viewers, they staged a series of debates during the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. These debates were between polar opposites -  the conservative William F. Buckley, Jr. and the Liberal Gore Vidal. These debates were must see TV at the time. And, they paved the way for the format of broadcast news today on CNN and Fox News.

This movie is fascinating. It is biting and funny and mean and sarcastic. These two men were both highly intelligent and they continued to let the other one know just how smart they were. They almost came to blows at one point and ABC had to quickly go to commercial break. There is plenty of background information on each of these men. They definitely had a history and did not like each other which made for very entertaining TV. If you follow politics at all, then this is a must see movie. I would go see it!
