Gretta (Keira Knightley) and Dave (Adam Levine) have been together since college. They are singer songwriters and some of Dave's songs have been picked up for a film. They decide the time is right to move to NewYork City and try to make a go of it. Dave becomes famous quickly and leaves Gretta in his wake. She is forced to pick herself up and try to get back to what she loves...songwriting. Dan (Mark Ruffalo) is a washed up music executive who is drinking away his last dollars. He hears Gretta singing one of her songs and convinces her to make a record with him. He hears the potential in her heartfelt performance and she really has nothing to lose. Together, they make a recording that awakens their love for music all over again.
First of all, If you liked Once you will like this movie. I think this was even a little better. It is a joyous celebration of music and performing just for the love of music. It moves around New York City and you can really feel the sights and sounds of the city. I really liked it and I definitely want to buy the soundtrack. Keira has a sweet voice and Adam is terrific in his first big role. If you like music, go see this!
