A young prince (Dan Stevens) is cursed to live his life as a Beast, watching the petals of a rose slowy fall. Once they are gone, he will remain a Beast and all of his friends will remain inanimate objects forever. That is unless he is able to find true love before it is too late. When Belle (Emma Watson) arrives at his cold and dingy castle to rescue her father Maurice (Kevin Kline), the Beast takes her captive. Slowly she warms to the Beast as they read together and stroll the grounds. But, will she ever be able to love the Beast for what he is inside and not his ugly exterior? With soaring vocals and classic songs, this is true Disney brought to life.

This film was a very good live action production of the beloved animated classic. It was gorgeous to look at - the set design and the costumes were amazing. I thought the voice cast overall was excellent. Emma Watson did a fine job as Belle and Luke Evans was fantastic as Gaston. Josh Gad added humor as LeFou and everyone else was really good. It was fun at the end to see who the voices were behind the inanimate objects that came to life (Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor and Audra McDonald, to name a few). I have read some complaints about the face of the beast but I didn't find it distracting. I thought he was well-done. My only slight complaint is that it was over two hours and it felt just a little long in the middle section. But, that is a small quibble. The audience in our screening seemed to love it and all clapped at the end. The husband and I enjoyed it and will be buying the soundtrack. We still can't get the title song out of our heads. Take the family (there are a few scary scenes involving wolves but nothing else) and go see it!
