Runs 90 Minutes

Guy Triby (Jason Bateman) plays a surly 40 year old who enters the regional spelling bee on a technicality and wins.  As he advances to the National Spelling Bee, he cruelly berates the other contestants, their parents and the folks in charge.  Along the way, he befriends a yound Indian boy (Rohan Chand) who he calls slumdog. As he advances in the Bee circuit, a reporter, Kathryn Hahn, follows along in his wake to discover his hidden motives for pursuing this adventure.

This movie is darkly hilarious.  You may grimace at the jokes but you won't be able to help yourself.  Jason Bateman stars and directs and he keeps the barbs coming until the end.  It gets a little softer in the end, but not much.  If you like your comedy dark and funny, this is for you.
