A dollmaker and his wife, Samuel (Anthony LaPaglia) and Esther (Miranda Otto) lose their daughter in a tragic accident. Samuel is left bereft and his wife bedridden. A few years later, they agree to take in a nun and a group of orphans. They feel that it is time to let some joy back into their lives. However, they are all soon terrorized by a creepy, possessed doll named Annabelle. The only question is - will anyone survive the doll's wrath?

This is the origin story of the creepy Annabelle doll that had been seen previously in Annabelle and the Conjuring. The doll was very creepy in those movies, especially since The Conjuring deals with a couple's real life experience with a doll they believed to be possessed. This film is just blah. Not really scary enough, not enough suspense, very predictable. I love scary movies that get my heart racing. This one only made me yawn. The performances are fine. I thought Talitha Eliana Bateman as Janice (the disabled orphan) was really good. You'll be seeing her a lot in the future. The ending of this film ties directly into the original Annabelle movie. If you've seen it, you'll say "oh, that's how it ties together". If you haven't, you might scratch your head and yawn again. If you are a big Annabelle fan, then by all means go see this one. If not, then I say skip it.
