When Alvin, Theodore and Simon learn that Dave (Jason Lee) is about to propose to Samantha (Kimberly Wiliams-Paisley), they are excited to start a new family. Until they realize that her son Miles (Josh Green) wants to send Alvin and his pals packing. However, they are forced to team up with him (since they are just chipmunks and can't really travel by themselves) to road trip to Florida to try to stop the engagement. Hilarity ensues along the way.

This movie is just about what you would expect. Negative reviews are just a little unfair. You should know what you are getting when you go to a movie with singing chipmunks. It is fairly cute and funny. It has a positive message about family. Don't go if you want Oscar caliber performances. It is a cute little diversion that will soon be forgotten. So, go if you have kids. Otherwise, skip it.
