Runs 105 minutes

Tami Oldham (Shailene Woodley) has been on a journey of self-discovery. She has been sailing from place to place, working odd jobs to pay the way to the next port of call. At one of her stops, she meets Richard Sharp (Sam Claflin), a slightly older man with the same sense of adventure. Slowly, they fall in love. Then, they are offered the adventure of a lifetime - sail the Hazana (a luxury sailboat) over a thousand miles across the ocean from Tahiti to San Diego. Unfortunately, no one could have predicted that they would be sailing directly into the path of Hurricane Raymond, one of the most deadly hurricanes in recorded history. In the aftermath of the storm, Tami must use all of her grit and determination to save herself and the injured man she loves.

This movie is based on a true story adapted from the book written by Tami Oldham. it is a story of love and survival, grit and determination, toughness and courage. Adrift in the middle of the ocean, over a thousand miles from land, nowhere near a shipping channel or a flight path, Tami must round up any food and water that survived the hurricane and try to get the boat into working condition. Then, she must try to sail for the nearest land and hope that she will be discovered before it is too late. Shailene Woodley is perfect in this tough and athletic role. She is so natural and seemed comfortable rolling around on a sailboat in the waves. I thought she and Sam Claflin were cute together. It is best to see this movie without knowing much else about it. it is entertaining and emotional. The Husband and I both liked it. Go see it.
