Liam Neeson is Matt Scudder, a former police detective who is now an unlicensed Private Investigator performing jobs for various unsavory people who give him gifts in return. He is hired by drug kingpin Kenny (Dan Stevens) to find the men who kidnapped and murdered his wife.
I was really looking forward to this movie. I love Liam Neeson's second career as an action hero movie star. This movie didn't live up to the hype for me. It was dark, somber and slow. It was fairly realistic in that Liam had to really canvas for clues and interview suspects/witnesses to lead him down the trail to the eventual killers. My problem is that it was just too slow getting there and I didn't really sympathize with any of the characters. The acting was great, as usual. I just wanted something more energetic, like Taken. If you like Liam Neeson and hard-boiled detective stories, then this might be for you. I just wanted a little more.
