Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) is an aging, alcoholic country rocker with a hearing problem that leaves his ears ringing and plenty of family drama with his brother (Sam Elliott). One night after a performance, he wanders into a dive bar and discovers Ally (Lady Gaga) singing La Vie En Rose. Their eyes meet and he is smitten. Ally is awkward and shy and has just about given up on her dream to be a singer. Jackson discovers that she is a natural singer/songwriter and one night he pushes her into the spotlight. As they fall in love, her fame begins to grow. Jackson loves her but also begins to resent her rise to fame as he plummets further into the bottle. Will this love story end in tragedy?

I LOVED this movie. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga have terrific chemistry. Who knew Bradley Cooper was so talented - he wrote the screenplay, directed the film, wrote some of the songs and music and he even sang his own songs!! This is the fourth time this film has been made, the most recent was with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand. The story is an old one. Two people fall in love, one is toward the end of their career and the other is starting to rise. There is plenty of romance, tension and jeolousy. And music. The songs are great. Lady Gaga has a tremendous voice. She and Bradley sound so good together. Lady Gaga also gives a great acting performance. She is sweet and natural. This is the first time I have actually liked her. The story is also sad and tragic. If you have seen a previous version, you know where this is headed. Even if you haven't seen an older version, you can see Jackson's downward spiral is going to be heart-breaking. But, the movie is so good! It is worth seeing on the biggest screen you can! (The better to see Bradley Cooper! - Ha!) Go see it!
