Ove (Rolf Lassgård) is a grouchy old man who spends his days making sure that all of his neighbors follow the rules - keep the gates locked, pick up your trash, clean up after your pets. He has given up on life. His wife has passed away and he is just biding his time until he can follow after her. He talks to her and visits her grave daily. But his world is turned upside down when a loud and friendly family moves in next door. Soon, they are involving him in their messy life and he starts to form an unlikely friendship with them. Maybe life is still worth living afterall.

This is one of my favorite movies of the year. Funny, sad and touching. I watched a lot of it with tears in my eyes. But, it also made me laugh out loud. The cast was terrific. It is subtitled but you don't even notice because you get so drawn into the story. Great date movie or a movie you could take your Mom to see. Find it and go see it! Take Kleenex!!
