Irene (Margherita Buy) is a forty-something "mystery Guest" hotel inspector. She travels around from Paris to Gstaad, Berlin to Morocco, staying at 5 Star resorts and performing her inspections in secret. It is a rewarding career. She gets to visit the best resorts and is treated to a life of pampering and luxury. However, in the quiet moments, she reflects on the fact that it is also a lonely life. She is still great friends with her Ex, but that is all they are, friends. She has no children, but she does spend time with her two adorable nieces. Is this solitary but fulfilling life enough or is she missing out on some important facet of stabilty and love.

This is a simple movie. It is beautifully filmed. The hotels are lovely and it is fun to watch what Irene goes through to determine if these hotels live up to their 5 Star ratings. As you watch her travel through these opulent settings and beautiful hotels, you can also feel Irene's emptiness and loneliness. In the end, it is a pleasant look at life and what determines ultimate happiness. If you like small, foreign films, this one is for you.
