This is the next installment in the 300 swords and sandals epic series.  It flashes back 10 years to reveal what set off the initial conflict between Persia and Greece.  Flash forward and Xerxes is now the God-King of Persia and set on revenge.  While the original 300 focused on King Leonidas and his band of 300 Spartans trying to hold off the Persians at Thermopylae, this battle is concurrently being waged at sea.  Led by Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton), the Greeks are rallied to repel the Persian invasion by sea.  They soon realize that the Persian Navy, led by Artemesia (Eva Green) is a force to be reckoned with and all of Greece must unite, including what is left of Sparta, to defeat this armada.

Ok.  I liked this movie.  There is a cameo of Gerard Butler's dead body from the original, but Sullivan Stapleton is fine taking over the lead of the Greek forces.  His abs aren't bad either (although not as good as my trainer's, Trainer Joe.  He would have made a fine ancient Geek and he thought the movie was ok, too!).  It isn't as epic as the original, but the choreographed fight scenes and the CGI battles at sea are pretty amazing.  Eva Green does a stand out job as evil Artemesia.  There is a gratuitous sex scene, but it seems that it made quite the impression with the guys.  So, overall Good movie.  Not as great as the first one but worth seeing.  Not for kids.
